Had a blast designing the debut album from Nashville jazz musician Evan Cobb. I love classic jazz from the greats, but don’t often get into the contemporary jams. I have to say though that I love this album. Filled with great tunes that deserve repeated spins – I am very stoked to be a part of Evan Cobb’s Falling Up. Featuring a slew of amazing Nashville players including Matt White, Bruce Dudley, Jonathan Wires, Joshua Hunt, and Jeff Coffin of Dave Mathews Band and Bela Fleck fame. If you like jazz, the kind that lives and breathes and moves you, and don’t often pick up a new record – this one comes highly recommended. Dig on Evan Cobb: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/evancobb.

Had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Benson live on my birthday last week. He killed a great set of songs at Bowery including tunes from all his records and the new one, My Old, Familiar Friend. Friend is a great album packed with trademark BB hooks and a few tunes that showcase a bit more of a super-charged rock sound, no doubt a side effect of his recent Raconteur-ing. Check out Brendan on Letterman, pick up Friend, and work backwards from there until you can’t get Cherries (from One Mississippi) outta your head.

And yes, that’s Ben Folds’ bassist, Jared Reynolds backing up the sounds.

CD at Amazon. There’s also a sweet vinyl that comes with MP3s.
